Visiting the dentist every six months is a great way to keep a healthy mouth, but are these cleanings the only time I should go?

Below, Dr. Van Treese gives a couple of other instances where a trip to the dentist is necessary.
One or more of your teeth are sensitive or hurt
If you ever experience sensitivity or pain in your mouth, be sure to speak with your dentist. These feelings may be signs of other dental health issues that you do not want to ignore.
Does your mouth feel dry?
Lack of saliva is an issue that can increase our chances of getting a cavity.
Are there problems with your gums?
Besides your teeth, if there are any issues with your gums, you should speak to your dentist or contact a periodontist. Some things to watch for include bleeding, bright red or inflamed gums.
Anything out of the ordinary
Whether it’s a bump in your mouth or even a sore jaw, anything that doesn’t seem right should be addressed with your dentist. If there is an issue, you don’t want to ignore it and make it worse.
