If caught in the early stages, oral cancer is one of the most curable forms of cancer. Generally, people do well while they are being treated, and, luckily, catching oral cancer early is possible because of the access to screening options.
There are two main forms of oral cancer screening; one is called OralCDx, and the other is called Vizilite Plus. OralCDx is a test that will detect any abnormal cells in your mouth that have a possibility of forming into cancer cells. The other option, Vizilite Plus, scans the soft tissue in your mouth and will be able to tell if any of the tissue has the chance of progressing into cancer. These screening options are easy to receive on a routine basis. Taking advantage of these tests can help detect a deadly but curable form of cancer.
You can lower your chance of oral cancer by staying away from activities such as tobacco use and drinking. These are two of the most common causes of oral cancer. If you would like to read more about the causes of oral cancer, click here.
