    Dental Sealants

The ridges and grooves of your teeth can sometimes trap unwanted bacteria and food particles, increasing your risk for developing cavities. Dental sealants seal off your back teeth, keeping these particles out and lowering your risk of developing cavities.

Dental sealants are a form of preventative dentistry that can stop food from getting stuck in the ridges of your back teeth and in turn, prevent cavities from forming. Sealants are a thin plastic coating that is painted over the top of the back teeth.

    What are dental sealants?

The grooves and ridges on the back teeth can be hard to brush and can sometimes trap food and bacteria particles. These particles can be difficult to reach with a toothbrush, making these teeth hard to clean efficiently. Because of this, they are much more prone to developing cavities. Dental sealants are painted onto these teeth and help to seal the grooves and ridges and keep out unwanted particles. This helps to keep them healthy and cavity-free.

    Who needs dental sealants?

Dental sealants are mostly recommended for young children whose brushing habits are not quite developed yet. They are also good for teenagers and adults that are prone to developing cavities.

    How are dental sealants applied?

To begin, we will thoroughly clean and dry all of the teeth that are going to be sealed. Next, the sealants are painted over your teeth and then hardened with a bright light. The whole process takes just a few minutes, but can last and protect your teeth for years to come.

    What is our sealant program?

With our sealant program, we will repair and replace your sealants for free for ten years, as long as you keep up with your dental hygiene visits every six months as recommended by the American Dental Association.

Dental sealants are a great way to protect you and your family’s teeth from unwanted cavities.
