If you think that you are suffering from sleep apnea, it is incredibly important to come see us immediately. We have a variety of oral sleep appliances that can help open your airway and stop sleep apnea at the source.

How do I know if I need an oral sleep appliance?
If you are diagnosed with sleep apnea Dr. Van Treese can make an oral appliance after a request from your sleep physician. Patients who are unable to tolerate a CPAP machine often seek an alternative solution which can be a sleep appliance. Dr. Van Treese and his team will work with you to properly fit the appliance. After your appliance is fitted, your sleep physician will monitor your sleep apnea.

Why are oral sleep appliances used?

There are several reasons oral sleep appliances are used. For mild to moderate sleep apnea, oral sleep appliances can be an effective treatment option that is portable and convenient for the active lifestyle. These appliances fit in your pocket, making traveling easy. The device does not need electricity to work, so you can conveniently use it anywhere. There are no masks or tubes to interfere with your comfort while you sleep. Many people start with a CPAP machine and find that they can’t or won’t tolerate it. The oral sleep appliance then becomes the only treatment available for them.

What are the benefits of an oral sleep appliance?

Oral sleep appliances are comfortable for everyday wear and sleep. They are small and easy to carry when you travel. They are a non-invasive and non-permanent treatment option. These appliances help to reposition your jaw and tongue to open the airway. When you wear an oral sleep appliance you will sleep better, snore less, and overall, feel more well-rested.

Even after your initial phase of treatment, Dr. Van Treese will continue to monitor your progress to ensure your jaw and mouth are responding properly to the appliance.
