    Sleep Apnea Screening

If you suffer from sleepless nights and constant fatigue, you may have a condition called sleep apnea and be a candidate for screening. Dr. Van Treese can provide you with solutions that will allow you to get a full night’s rest again.

Millions of people in the U.S. suffer from Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and of those millions, only a fraction are being treated. If you consistently wake up throughout the night, and are always tired during the day, you may be suffering from OSA.

    What is obstructive sleep apnea?
OSA is a serious condition in which your breathing repeatedly stops and starts while you are asleep. These stops in breathing can last from just a few seconds to a couple minutes and you can experience them 30 times or more per hour. When this occurs, your brain goes into a panic and wakes up your body to start breathing again. Waking up like this can be frightening and disruptive to your sleep schedule. Without treatment, it can even be life-threatening.

What are the symptoms of sleep apnea?
Some of the symptoms of sleep apnea are not directly related to sleep. In addition to loud snoring, recurrent awakenings, and constant fatigue, many patients with sleep apnea also suffer from Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), elevated blood pressure, diabetes, and obesity.

If you are suffering from sleep apnea, odds are that you are not the only one affected by the condition. Studies have shown people who sleep next to a chronic snorer due to sleep apnea may also suffer many from:

    • Fatigue and daytime sleepiness
    • Fibromyalgia
    • Depression
    • Memory Impairment
    • Loss of Libido
    • Weight Gain

    How can we help?
We are here to help you get your sleep apnea under control and to get your sleep schedule back on track. To begin, we will give you a take-home screening test called a Pulse-Oximeter. This machine will record your pulse and oxygen levels throughout the night. With the data from this device, we will be able to predict the severity of your condition. From there, we may recommend a consultation with a sleep physician.

We want you to get a sound night of sleep and to do so safely. If you believe you are suffering from sleep apnea, come see us for a free consultation. We will carefully evaluate your sleep patterns and make recommendations to help combat this condition. Call us today at (937)-284-4500 to start getting the rest you deserve.
